To the Celts, and to many other cultures, the turtle represented quiet wisdom and long life. The slow and deliberate motions fo the turtle and it's simple, but impregnable, defenses led to a view that the turtle was wise in it's conservation of energy and strength. Long lived, turtles seemed almost eternal.
This authentic snapping turtle skull is painted with watercolor paints and protected with a UV resistant glaze, but is for indoor display only.
The designs are early La Tene period patterns designed to follow the waving paths of seaweed or lake grass and the patterns of the sun through deep water.

To the Celts, the Boar represented uncontrolled ferocity, strength and power. This artwork is first a recognition of the place of death in the cycle of life.
This authentic Wild Boar skull was obtained from a rancher inTexas. Feral for centuries, these animals are descendants of the European animals brought to the New World in early Colonial times. They are dangerous pests and are known for their bad tempers. This particular boar killed two dogs and injured several others before it was shot.
The skull is stained with pure English Red Ochre, a pigment used in England since the Stone Age. The White Chalk pattern, a "Z" Rod, is a common symbol on many early Pictish stone monuments. It's meaning is not fully understood, buy may represent a broken spear.
This piece is protected with a waterproof glaze for occasional outdoor display. If it is displayed outdoors frequently, please remember to add coats of glaze on occasion. The glaze or varnish can be purchased at any craft store and should specify "waterproof".
Boar and unprotected nongame animals, meaning that there are only minimum requirements for hunting them and they may be taken at any time of the year.

To the Celts, and to many other culture, the wolf represented the wild wood, the darkness outside the firelight, that which was untamed and uncontrolled.
This artwork is first a recognition of the place of death in the cycle of life. Itl is painted with pure, natural pigments and lightly covered with a UV proctant glaze to keep the fragile pigments from damage in indirect sunlight.
Purchase of artwork containing Wolf materials is a responsibility. Wolves are a threatened species in all their ranges. Permits are required to export this piece of artwork, and in some states, permits are required simply to own it. Permits ensure that the Wolf was legally taken, and legally sold. Included in the purchase of this piece of artwork: The original receipt from the dealer who sold the skull to the artist, verifying that the skull was legally obtained as well as information on the American Grey Wolf, the Federal Endangered Species Act, and the International Convention on Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
This Grey Wolf skull has all the legal documentation necessary for sale, including the ID tag attached to the skull and all the teeth are present.
The skull is stained with woad and dry-brushed with gold acrylic. Woad is a plant pigment used by ancient Picts for tattooing and for painting their bodies before ritual or battle.
